JP Morgan IT Spending Spree Is Good For ScotlandBright Purple MD Nick Price was recently asked to comment on the impact investment bank JP Morgan's renewed spending on IT will have on the IT recruitment industry in Scotland... JP Morgan has been on a $1billion IT spending spree in order to continue to increase it's investment banking market share, adding more IT staff to it's veritable legion of technologists and Scotland, in particular Glasgow, has and will continue to benefit. With their European Technology Centre based in Glasgow already employing over 800 staff, JP Morgan are looking to increase this by hiring further development and technical staff. However, JPM aren't alone in wanting to increase IT spend this year as Morgan Stanley, Barclays and Odyssey Technologies are all looking to recruit technical staff north of the border. Speaking on the subject of how these rolls will be filled, Bright Purple's Nick Price noted that "During the downturn, people either relocated out of Scotland to find a new position or left the industry altogether. Finding people to fill these jobs will be a challenge down the line." To read the full article, visit eFinancial Careers Scotland.
